The Town of Legal is a vibrant community with a population of 1,232 and is located 50 kilometers north of Edmonton (approximately 3km east of Highway 2 on Highway 651). Whether you are en route to "Festival City", taking a long road trip to the east coast or looking for a serene place to enjoy a picnic and visit with locals, the Town of Legal is the place to be.

While the rural surrounds Legal, there is also opportunity to embrace the urban lifestyle, as a large city center is located only minutes south of Legal. There is opportunity for expansion in Legal. Basic business amenities are available in Legal with a variety of housing options for any target audience. The town offers a balance between quiet country living that people crave and the amenities of city life. Housing for the elderly is provided at the Chateau Sturgeon Lodge (operated by Homeland Housing), which provides individual rooms for seniors that are not requiring extensive nursing care. Sunset Villa & Sunrise Villa self-contained units are available to the seniors who want to maintain their independence while not having to be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of a house.

The Town features two community hall facilities available to the public. Club 60 Roses, a local organization for senior citizens, has a facility perfect for smaller functions and the Centralta Community Centre (operated by l'ACFA Régionale de Centralta) for those larger events.

The Town of Legal has maintained its bilingualism throughout the years; this diversity sets it apart from other towns. Legal takes pride in their long French Heritage history. There are over 35 murals proudly displayed around Legal. Some of the local businesses within Legal have always been a part of the town’s history. Legal also has a large volunteer based community that offers a sense of togetherness. Citizens are continuously volunteering in the community in order to provide the best town experience as possible. Legal offers local fishing in their Day Park, an RV park, soccer fields, an outdoor Pickleball court, baseball diamonds, a skatepark, as well as landscapes that allow room for recreational activities such as picnicking, cycling and walking. With restaurants, pubs, a local grocery store, a Servus Credit Union, Dodge dealership, welding shop and many other amenities, Legal offers the same essentials as an urban community, but also provides the peacefulness of living within a small knit community.
